Cape May Company On National Dangerous Places to Work List
A Cape May Company has landed on "The Dirty Dozen" a list of the 12 worst companies that put their employees at risk.
The reason Atlantic Capes Fisheries on the list is probably not what you would expect.
The Cape May based Seafood Company, according their website, is "a family of over 400 exceptional employees who are dedicated to supplying the highest quality products and the best customer service. Atlantic Capes Fisheries, Inc. Your one source for the best seafood products."
The National Council on Occupational Safety and Health, though uses different words to describe the company in it's "Dirty Dozen" report. It's says the company (along with BJ Services of New Bedford, MA) made the report because of a "$675,000 settlement of sexual harassment case –after workers who complained were fired."
●At a New Bedford, MA seafood processing plant, managers, supervisors and co-workers repeatedly harassfemale co-workers
●Harassment includesunwanted touching, solicitations for sex and crude comments.
●Two women are fired after filing complaints with the U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission
●In a January 2019 settlement, Atlantic CapesFisheries and BJ’s Servicesagreeto prevent misconduct and make payments toworkers
