Aurora and Athena, Black & White Sisters – Pets of the Week
Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.
If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.
All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.
This week we met Aurora and Athena the cats…
Here is some information on Aurora and Athena from the Humane Society of Ocean City:
“Aurora and Athena are a wonderful pair of sisters that must be adopted together. They are both black and white with striking amber eyes and are approximately a year old.
Their story is similar to many of the strays we receive. They were dumped off, along with their mother at a busy shopping center in a local city. They were confused and kept running up to cars and people. It was obvious that they did not know their surroundings. Mama ran off, probably trying to find her way back home and never returned. The two girls stayed together in the area, foraging for food and huddling together in the bad weather.
Finally, after a few weeks, word got out that there were a couple of friendly strays hanging around and they were rescued. Unfortunately, the kind person that picked them up wasn't in the position to keep them but was able to hold them until the HSOC has space to take them in.
These wonderful sisters are good with other cats. They've seen dogs and seem like they would be okay if given time to adjust. Although, as far as we know they've never been with kids, they seem like they would be good with children of all ages. They are smart, sweet, affectionate and playful. They would be a great addition to just about any family."
