Atlantic County Goverment is pledging assistance to those facing layoffs due to the threat of casino closings.According to Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson, the county goverment will step in and provide assisitnace to those in need.

More than 6,500 Atlantic City casino employees recently received notices concerning layoffs and secheduled closings. The closing dates are August 18th for Revel, August 31st for Showboat and September 16th for Trump Plaza.

The Atlantic County One Stop Career Center can help those in need. The center is located a 2 S. Main Street in Plaesantville.

The Atlantic Cape May Workforce Investment Board will start work with Showboat employees. The board will let employees know what programs are available to them. Severance and unemployment compensation benefits information will also be dicussed..

Representatives from the Workforce Investment Board are also availabe to speak with Revel and Trump Plaza employees.
