Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts had one of his worst outings as the team's top signal-caller during Sunday's loss to the Giants and to make matters worse, he injured his ankle but did not miss a snap.

Hurts finished the game going 14-for-31 for 129 yards, throwing three interceptions in the Eagles' 13-7, Week 12 loss to the Giants.

If you noticed less running from Hurts later in the game, he did not run with the football again after he injured his ankle against the Giants

So if he still can’t run effectively, should the Eagles start him against the Jets?

Is he good enough as a passer at this stage of his career to justify starting him if he is not 100%?

So will that injured ankle keep him from playing with a bye week looming following this week's tilt in North Jersey against the Jets?  Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni addressed that on Monday.

"I hate to keep saying this to you guys, but he's sore right now," Sirianni admitted. "Going to have more information for you on Wednesday. Not putting any time restrictions on him or anything like that. Again, we'll see how he's doing as the week goes. But, yeah, he was sore yesterday."

While it might be too early to tell, Sirianni was asked if there was a possibility that Hurts would not be able to play on Sunday.

"I'm not there, yet," Sirianni stated. " Again, don't want to put a timetable on anything. I'm hopeful. Jalen is hopeful that he'll play. Again, you got to see how these things go, as you guys well know. We'll see how the rehab goes the next two days and have more of an update for you on Wednesday."

If Hurts is unable to go, Eagles fans would get their first look at Gardner Minshew, who the team acquired from the Jaguars for a conditional sixth-round pick before the season started.

In 24 career games, Minshew has had some success in the league while starting for Jacksonville.  The former sixth-round pick and Washington State star completed 63% of his passes for 5,541 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.  He has also ran 96 times for 496 yards and a score.

Other than locker room politics, maybe the team goes with Minshew if Hurts can’t run with the football.

Check back Wednesday.
