Airbnb Passes New Rule: NO PARTIES On Their Rental Properties

Airbnb is making one thing clear to its customers: they will not enable risky behavior during this pandemic.

It has just been announced that the short-term rental company will be banning all parties and events at its global listings. Maximum capacity for each location is 16 people.

This new rule will be in affect until further notice which means that this new rule applies to all future bookings as well.

As much as the pandemic offers the perfect opportunity to put this type of rule in place, it sounds like they have been looking for a way to do this for a while.

"We are currently in the process of communicating this new policy to our global community," said Airbnb in a statement. "We are partners with our hosts on this important issue and we both feel the pain when an unauthorized party occurs during an Airbnb reservation. We believe having a simpler, global policy will allow us to better support the vast majority of hosts who already ban parties in their homes."

If you choose to ignore Airbnb's new rules, they can come after you legally.

"Guests will be informed about Airbnb's party rules and informed that they may be legally pursued by Airbnb if they violate our policy, " said Airbnb in a statement.

"We acknowledge that there will always be those who attempt to break the rules," Airbnb continued. "This is why we've implemented steep consequences for hosts or guests who try to skirt them, including bans from our community and even legal action."

This announcement is not all that surprising if you ask me.

There have been countless headlines reporting on large house parties that have taken place in New Jersey within these passed few weeks and everyone single one of them that I have heard about has resulted in the spread of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Plus, I am sure a lot of Airbnb rental property owners are on board to ban parties permanently because...well....we all know what goes down at parties.

Just remember: banning gatherings is not just for your own good, but it is for ALL of our own goods.

Keep your gatherings small and you should be just fine to enjoy your staycation.
