After 84 years, an Out of Business Sale For Wildwood’s Oldest Bar
The foggy relocation I have of the Shamrock bar in Wildwood is a decades-old mix of tanned young people, loud music and 7 beers for a buck.
It seems to me that they would actually pour out 7 tiny glasses of beer on the bar for you, but I may be romanticizing things.
After all, it was a long time ago and I told you it was a foggy memory.
Take a look on their still active Facebook page, though, and you will see that just before the pandemic in 2019, the Shamrock was still offering 4 beers for a dollar during happy hour, so maybe my memory is better than I thought.
One way or the other, the 7 beers for a buck deal was a pretty good gimmick, because I still remember it decades later.
Soon, the only memories anyone will have of the Shamrock will become foggy, because the party spot at 3700 Pacific Avenue in Wildwood is closed permanently.
The Facebook page says the Shamrock was established in 1937 by the Ward Family, from Donegal, Ireland, & has been in operation for 84 years, making it the oldest tavern in Wildwood.
The Facebook page also say the business was sold in 2016 and the new ownership hoped to serve you the way the Shamrock always had when they reopen in October of 2021.
That story seems to be the beginning of the end for the Shamrock.
Open to the public: We will be having a sale of various items from all 3 bars and other treasures. We will open the doors at 8am and stay open till 3 pm on both Saturday and Sunday June 12th and 13th.
