A Letter To The People Protesting Against Our Country’s Shutdown
I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy and continue to do everything in your power to ensure that it stays that way.
I am sure that by now, everyone has seen news reports showing people protesting the country being shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Well here is what I have to say to those people: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
This is not a matter of your rights being taken away from you. This is a matter of science; biological proof that if we go out and gather, more people will get sick and die. Period.
You are not in prison under watch. You are in Quarantine. Big difference.
And may I also add that by you going out to protest....in large groups of people...NOT social distancing....you are prolonging the very thing that you are protesting.
When you go back home after protesting, you are bringing back ALL the germs from EVERYONE and ANYONE you came into contact with. This means that by protesting your inability to go out and live your life, you are also putting those who live in the same household as you at risk as well.
I am not saying this is easy. It's not. It SUCKS actually.
But by you protesting, you are making this awful time last even longer and to be honest, you are being reckless and selfish.
How about this? Use your time to help those in need. Unemployment haven't been this high in decades and there are families simply struggling to put food on the table. Maybe use your time to help others get through this instead of rushing for everything to open back up.
Not to mention: If we open too soon, this entire time spent in Quarantine will have been for nothing.
Please. Stay home.
Parks and golf courses are already slated to open on May 2nd -- aka 2 DAYS AWAY -- which means that the end of this thing COULD be in sight if we all behave as adults.
Sometimes the thing that we WANT to do is not the thing that we SHOULD do.
Stay home. Stop protesting. Your rights are in tact. And your actions are putting others with pre-existing medical conditions at serious risk.
