Crime knows no age, but still, it comes as a shock when a senior citizen is arrested for dealing heroin. Wednesday evening, Stafford Township Police pulled Allen Poplawski, 78, of Manahawkin over on a traffic stop and found 100 bags of heroin in his possession.

Poplawski had been a person of interest to police for some time, identified through several anonymous tips to Stafford PD's Drug Enforcement Unit, according to a facebook post from Stafford Twp. Police.

That arrest started a toppling of dominos that lead to the four more arrests.

Police then searched a Stafford Township home on Oak Avenue and found Maryann Garcia and Alan Hill hiding in the attic. Garcia and Hill were charged with hindering apprehension, heroin possession and possession of CDS prescription tablets.

 They were both found to have outstanding warrants and were taken to the Ocean County Jail on outstanding warrants in lieu of their bail.

Two other suspects,Trudy Shinn, 50, and Devin Post, 30, were arrested and charged with possession of heroin and methamphetamine. Shinn and Post were released pending a future court date in Ocean County Superior Court.

Allen Poplawski was charged with possession of heroin, possession with Intent to distribute heroin, and distribution of heroin. He was served a criminal complaint summons pending a future court date in Ocean County Superior Court.
