The estimated Mega Millions jackpot has jumped to $512 million for Tuesday night's drawing. The cash payout for a single winner of Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing will be about $303 million.

Tuesday's prize is the fifth largest in Mega Millions 16-year history and the 11th largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history.

The prize is the largest total since March, when $533 million was awarded to a person in New Jersey.

The grand prize was last won May 4. Since then, the jackpot has rolled over 22 times.

Let's think optimistically for a minute and give a basic game plan for what to do when you win.

Four things experts say to do when you win the Mega Millions jackpot:

- 1 Sign your ticket.  So simple, but SO important.

- 2 Keep quiet. The normal reaction may be screaming at the top of your lungs to let everyone know you won lots of money.  Resist that inclination.  Shut down you social media and remain as anonymous as possible.

-3 Hire a lawyer and a tax pro. You will need them.

4- Don't lose your mind. There's no hurry to buy everyone you know their own house. Take it slow, and when you do decide to spend some money, don't forget a favorite charity.
