3 South Jersey Schools on New Jersey’s Top 50 List

It is that time of year where the state lists the top 50 schools. According to NJ.com, "...[The state] scores [schools] from 0-100 based on standardized test scores, graduation rates and other academic data..."

There has been some controversy over the years on this ratings system. The state themselves have said that this ranking does not paint a full picture. NJ.com stated, "Critics haven been less kind, calling the ratings oversimplified and meaningless."

The scores were determined using this breakdown: "Four-year graduation rate (20 percent), five-year graduation rate (20 percent), progress toward English language proficiency (20 percent) English proficiency (15 percent), math proficiency (15 percent), chronic absenteeism (10 percent)."

30: Haddonfield Memorial High School:

Coming in at #30 on the list is Haddonfield Memorial High School. It scored 86.24 and in the 92nd percentile.

26. Gloucester County Institute of Technology

The Sewell school made #26 on the ranking with a score of 87.02.

5. Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science:

M.A.T.E.S. in Manahawkin made it to the top 5 on this list. It made it to the 99th percentile with a score of 95.75.
