Here's a South Jersey Memorial Day weekend party that turned in to the barbecue from hell.

A family barbecue in Whitesboro Saturday was reduced to an ugly brawl which included smashing car windows with a baseball bat, a stabbing in the hands, and a gun shot fired from a semi-automatic handgun. Three men were arrested and one suspect is still at large.

Here is the Middle Twp Police report on Saturday's family fracas and one suspect who is still at large.

"On May 25th, 2019 at approximately 2:30 PM the Middle Township Police Department responded to 5 South Carolina Avenue in the Whitesboro Section of the Township for a shots fired call.  The investigation revealed Louis Wyatt, age 23 of Burleigh and Raekwon Kade , age 23 of Rio Grande showed up to a barbecue, where Kade produced a baseball bat and became hostile toward his father, William Smith, age 47 of Swainton.  During the incident Kade smashed all of the windows out of William Smith’s vehicle.

During this time Wyatt was arguing and became aggressive toward William Smith, when Smith’s other son, Shafiq Smith, age 24 of Cape May Court House, intervened and stabbed Wyatt in his hands.  William Smith then allegedly produced a semi-automatic handgun and fired a single shot in the direction of Wyatt.  Upon officer’s arrival Shafiq Smith had already fled the scene.  No weapons were recovered; however, one shell casing was recovered at the scene.

William Smith was charged with Aggravated Assault, a 2nd Degree Crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a 2nd Degree Crime, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, a 2nd Degree Crime and Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons, a 2nd Degree Crime.
Raekwon Cade was charged with Criminal Mischief, a 4th Degree Crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon a 4th Degree Crime, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, a 3rd Degree Crime, Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons, a 4th Degree Crime, Disorderly Conduct, a Disorderly Persons Offense.
Louis Wyatt was charged with Disorderly Conduct, a Disorderly Persons Offense.
Shafiq Smith was charged with Aggravated Assault, a Second Degree Crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a 4th Degree Crime, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, a 3rd Degree Crime and Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons, a 4th Degree Crime.

William Smith and Raekwon Cade were incarcerated in the Cape May County Correctional Facility.  Wyatt was released on a summons.  Shafiq Smith has yet to be apprehended.  Anyone having information on the whereabouts of Shafiq Smith, please contact the Middle Township Police Department at 609-465-8700."
