My mom recently rescued a dog named Bing. Bing had been in two different states before landing with a foster family in New Jersey. She'd been shuffled around a bit in her first year and a half of life. And, I feel like when I look into Bing's eyes, it's as if she's thanking my mom and our family for her salvation. I would imagine all the rescue dog moms and dads who shared photos with us see the same thing in their pups' eyes. How about you?

Flip through a photo gallery of South Jersey rescue dogs below. They'll certainly bring a smile to your face, and maybe even inspire you to open your own heart and home to a pet in need.

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
