The neverending winter of 2015 has kept an icy grip on South Jersey, setting record breaking temperatures.

We hit a new low and broke a 127 year old record this morning when the temperature barley hit two degrees above zero. It was twenty degrees warmer this afternoon in Anchorage, Alaska than in South Jersey.

To make matters worse, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Atlantic and Cape May counties with a total of 4 to 8 inches possibile tonight into tomorrow morning. The artic air blast will also continue for most of the week with another chance of snow Wednesday night. .

Here are some tips to keep you safe and warm this frigid winter:

Wear layers of lightweight but warm, loose-fitting clothes.

Wear mittens instead of gloves. They will keep your hands warmer.

Cover your mouth to protect your lungs. Wearing a  hat will keep you warmer

More helpful tips:

Keep all  pets inside.

Stay inside as much as you can.

Limit travel. If you have to travel be sure to keep a winter survival kit in your car. Check your air pressure on your tires and make sure your heater and defroster are working properly.

Make sure you know how to shut off water valves in case your pipes freeze and burst.
