I once read about a scientific study regarding bathing suit shopping.  It concluded that bathing suit shopping can be stressful.  It took a team of professionals to figure this out?  I could have told you that, and so could every other woman on the planet.

It all starts in the dressing room.  I think every single one needs a complete overhaul.  Who designed these awful areas anyway?  I believe it was men.  No woman would create a dressing room with unforgiving fluorescent lights, mirrors mirrors everywhere, and no room to move without dislocating a shoulder.   And can someone please tell me why the curtain never completely closes?  You have to hold it closed with one hand and get dressed with the other.  If you’re lucky enough to have an actual door, don’t get too excited.  It never locks.  Sure, you think it locks…until someone walks in on you.  And of course just finding suits to try on is challenging enough.  I understand why tops and bottoms are sold separately. What I don’t get is why I can never find a top and bottom that remotely match, or why there are tons of tops and no bottoms or the other way around.  But I am going to tell you my ‘secret’ to stress-free and (almost) fun bathing suit shopping…online shopping.  Trust me.  It’s the only sane way to buy a bathing suit.  I went to the actual store first and figured out my size.  It’s the last time you’ll have to do it so just suck it up and go.  Then go home, go online, and go shopping!  At least you don’t have to look at yourself trying on suit after suit.  And when your brand new bathing suit arrives in the mail, you can dim the lights and try it on in front of your favorite tiny little mirror.  That is definitely worth the price of shipping.  :)
