Unfortunately, this scenario has happened to me more times than I'd like to remember.

After searching for what seems like hours, I finally find a spot to park by the beach. I then try to guess how long my wife and I will be there. We always wind up staying longer than usual only to find a delightful piece of paper (a parking ticket) waiting for us when we get back. Of course I'm thrilled that my wallet will now be $31 lighter.

NJ.com has just come out with a new list of 44 beach towns up and down the Jersey Shore where you'll most likely to get a parking ticket of your very own. Results are from how many tickets are written per square mile.

You're in pretty good shape in Strathmere in Upper Township, which comes in at the bottom of the list at #44.

Here's how the rest of South Jersey beaches rate:

#36 - Cape Point

#34 - Brigantine

#32 - Longport

#31 - Avalon

#27 - Stone Harbor

#24 - Ocean City

#18 - Wildwood Crest

#16 - Atlantic City

#14 - Margate

#13 - Sea Isle City

#12 - Ventnor

#9 - Cape May City

#7 - North Wildwood

#5 - Wildwood City

#1 (writing close to 30,000 tickets in a one year period) - Asbury Park

It may be a good idea to make sure you put enough money in the meter to save you the hassle of hefty beach fines.
