So my Mom and I are in a bit of a spat right now and I thought it would be best to get some nonbiased feedback.

It is no secret that I am an avid animal lover, but other cultures around the world definitely do not operate with those same values.

The Chinese Dog Eating Festival kicks off in about 4 weeks and to help create awareness, very difficult to see images and video of how these dogs are treated have been circulating on Facebook to try and make actions such as these illegal worldwide.

I, wanting to make a change, have been sharing these posts to create awareness because I truly believe that that is the first step. And with platforms such as Facebook and all that reach thousands, I think it would be almost silly to not take advantage of the website's large reach.

However, my mom gets upset whenever she has to see these types of posts. Her argument is that she does not want to have to see these horrific acts despite them taking place and that you do not need to see them to know that they are wrong.

But to be honest, I don't think I would have began to realize the severity of the situation unless I had been exposed to disturbing content such as this post.

So what do you think?
