You can go Irish, Italian or your own way this weekend. Or, you can go see the Pope.

But, if you're staying in south Jersey, you have several local early fall favorites as options for fun, including North Wildwood's 24th annual Irish Fall Festival or the Smithville Italian Festival.

Let me direct your attention to a different kind of celebration this Saturday on the Ocean City Boardwalk. The annual Walk for the Wounded salutes and supports American military injured in service and their families, as they re-acclimate to civilian life.

While defending America, sadly, many lives are lost. But of equal importance are the lives that are changed forever by severe wounds, life changing amputations, and painful surgeries – often followed by mounting bills at home, necessary job retraining, home renovations and more.

The walk is presented by Ocean City Home Bank and Operation First Response.

Join Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG, with special guest Phil Martelli, the St. Joe's  basketball coach, for the 3-mile walk, Sat. 9/26, with registration @ 8:30a and opening ceremony @ 9:30a.
