New Jersey will experience scattered clouds and possibly a few showers over the next several days, as temperatures stay well above normal.

Every single day of December so far has experience an above normal high temperature at Newark Airport. And this trend of mild weather looks to continue through at least the beginning of next week!

We did see some light showers along the eastern edge of New Jersey overnight, as a meager coastal storm system just clipped the coast. (The Garden State's top rainfall total was only 0.01".) Those have come to an end, and now we can look forward to a sky with more sun than clouds, and more mild temperatures. Highs today should reach the upper 40s to lower 50s across the state. That's a little bit cooler than Monday (56 to 58 degrees), but still at or above normal for early December (45 to 48 degrees).

Temperatures will continue to warm beyond today, as Wednesday's highs reach the lower 50s. Skies should be partly sunny, and the day should be pleasant overall. The NAM model shows a few showers popping up throughout the day, but something looks wacky with the NAM's output this week (both in terms of temperature and precipitation) so I'm pretty much tossing it out the window at this point.

A very weak cold front will approach New Jersey on Thursday, but there's a good chance it completely washes out before reaching the Delaware River. I have put a chance for a few light showers and sprinkles into the forecast on Thursday, just in case... But don't expect anything much here. Furthermore, there will be little to no effect on temperatures following this hiccup. Thursday's highs should top out in the mid 50s, and we'll approach 60 degrees on Friday.

In fact, 60s look like a pretty sure bet for the upcoming weekend. The sky won't be perfect, as clouds increase on Saturday and stay mostly cloudy for Sunday. Additionally, an approaching front will likely kick the winds into the "breezy" range for Sunday. At the moment, I believe any rain from this front will hold off until Monday. (GFS says the rain will fall between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, while the Euro model says we'll be wet from about 1 p.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday)
