The community effort to renovate the Brigantine Shark Park playground moves in to its rebuilding phase this week and organizers are asking for your help to make the park better than ever.

When Shark Park, on 26th Street South in Brigantine, was originally built in 1998, it was one of the last wooden playgrounds built in South Jersey. But over the years, and especially after Hurricane Sandy, Shark Park started to look its age. The park needed major repairs.

A new Shark Park Volunteer committee was formed and after a year of planning, the new park is being rebuilt in all composite materials including many new great features.

The Shark Park committee has designated this as "work week", with teams of volunteers needed to man three shifts daily. Workers are needed to fill the 8am to noon, 12:30pm to 5pm, and 5pm to dark shifts each day this week.

Volunteers of every age and ability are needed. Children under 9 years of age can work in the activities tent, those ages 10 to 14 can work in the project one on one with a parent or guardian, and anyone over age 14 can work independently.

Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG will join in the effort this Saturday at 10am. See more details about what is needed to redo the Brigantine Shark Park and help out with this great local project!
