The tradition of ‘Bag Day’, the day of recovery following St. Patrick’s Day, turned into a sandy adventure for one driver who took a wrong turn into the Atlantic Ocean.

Police were called to the stretch of beach off Andover Street in Margate Monday around 4:45 p.m. after reports of a driver joyriding along the sand, according to NBC40.net.  The man behind the wheel had driven his car on a portion of the boardwalk in Ventnor before crashing into the ocean in Margate.  The vehicle became partially submerged and stuck in the sand.

Margate Police determined the driver was intoxicated.  He was transported to an area hospital and charged with DWI.

Atlantic City has seen a ton of changes since the first casino opened back in 1978. A large chunk of those changes came because of one person — Donald Trump. The 80s were Trump’s heyday in A.C. And it was Trump’s Castle that many thought would make Atlantic City the east coast’s premier tourist destination.

While the Trump Castle is no longer the crown jewel of Atlantic City, the building is still standing. So, how well do you remember Atlantic City?

A dangerous situation unfolded Monday morning in Egg Harbor Township when a car caught fire just feet from a gas station.

It happened before noon at the Cumberland Farms on the corner of Ocean Heights Avenue and Zion Road in EHT. It’s not believed anyone was seriously hurt. Luckily, the flames never got close enough to the gas station to cause major problems.

Congrats are in order for Gotye! Aside from having one of the most played songs in 2012 with ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ he now has a 2013 Grammy for the track.

Taking the stage with featured vocalist Kimbra, Gotye, who previously made a bit of a stink over ‘Glee‘ covering the xylophone-heavy, “dinky” track, was humbled over the award.

“I’m elated, excited … thank you for listening!” Gotye smiled. He explained that he searched for the perfect vocalist for over six months to add to the song and set up a microphone in Kimbra’s bedroom for her to sing her part on the ubiquitous song.

“I feel so blessed,” Kimbra gushed. “We were not expecting this! There are so many amazing people in the categories — thank you!” She added that her expectations for the track were “just becoming great friends and geeking out over music together.”

The Grammy was Gotye’s second of the night. Earlier in the pretelecast he nabed the Best Alternative Album trophy. Congrats!

Taylor Swift is nominated for three Grammys this year, one of which is Record of the Year for ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ — and that’s influencing her opening performance for the show.

Swift wouldn’t give too many details to Ryan Seacrest about the show, but she did pretty much let the cat out of the bag that she would be performing her kiss off to Jake Gyllenhaal.

“I think you should perform the song that’s nominated,” she told the hardest working man in show business (quotes via MTV). “Like, if you got a song nominated for Record of the Year, you might as well perform that. It’s a big hint.”

Swift also dished on her next single, ’22,’ an upbeat fan favorite from ‘Red’ — and about the year that inspired her.

“Oh, it was just the best [being 22],” she gushed. “I’m really stoked that that’s going to be the next single. I wrote that about my friends, like finally I’ve got this amazing group of girlfriends and we tell each other everything, we’re together all the time. And I think that was kind of the marker of me being 22, like, having all these friends and there’s all these question marks in your life, but the one thing that you have is that you have each other.”

If she wins big tomorrow (Feb. 10), chances are 23 won’t be a bad year, either.

Jennifer Hudson not only turned in a surprise performance at the Super Bowl tonight, but she fronted a choir of 26 children from Sandy Hook Elementary School, site of the one of our nation’s most tragic shootings.

Hudson and the children performed a very uplifting rendition of ‘America the Beautiful,’ leaving not a dry eye in the house. However the real show was just off to the side, where the ASL interpreter was performing with equal gusto (see GIF below).

This contender in Doritos’ Crash the Super Bowl commercial contest features a goat that just can’t get enough of that nacho cheese taste.

The story is the budding friendship of two Doritos fans, regardless of difference in species. Tragedy strikes, of course, and their love for Doritos drives a wedge between them–the goat chews too loudly and too often and eats too many Doritos; the goat discovers the man’s hoarding of Doritos and his ploy to sell it off.

The ad ends on a pretty ominous note. Forgive us, but this commercial seems to do more in detailing the dangers of Dorito-consumption — crippling addiction and eventual murder by goat — rather than the joy that’s to be had from eating them.
