An urban legend is defined as "a story passed down through the generations by word of mouth, often involving a tall tale. These often involve haunted houses or dangerous situations."

Dangerous situations like a razor blade in a Halloween candy bar?  Why, yes, that is a popular urban legend. Only this time it appears to be true.

Vineland Police are investigating how a razor blade got in a child's Halloween bag that "consisted of a Tootsie Roll package, which contained a Tootsie Roll and a razor blade",  according to police. The package had been glued back together.

In a public safety announcement Monday, police urged families to inspect their Halloween trick or Treat candy carefully after the razor was found.  The candy was collected in the East Vineland neighborhood area of South Spring Road, Lincoln Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue.

No one was injured in the razor incident.
