High school sports have always been popular with South Jersey students and their parents.

Aside from the obvious benefits of sports like staying focused and fit, students often experience improved academics, teamwork and leadership skills, as well as time management, according to Public School Review.

The folks at NJ.com just put out a list of the Top 50 best public schools for sports for 2019 in the Garden State, according to the website Niche.

The list was determined based upon reviews from students and parents, the number of students who participate in sports, and the number of sports that are offered by each individual school.

The first South Jersey school to make this list is Mainland Regional in Linwood, coming in at #40! Mainland gets an A for overall grade from Niche.

#24 on the list is also from South Jersey -- Cedar Creek in Egg Harbor City which ranks #197 nationally out of 200 schools. Next up at #20 is Ocean City High School, which is ranked #151 nationally.
