The Real Story Behind Historic Smithville

The Garden State is full of towns with interesting beginnings, especially here in South Jersey. Have you ever wondered how some of these towns got their start? Today, we dive into historic Smithville.

According to Wikipedia, Smithville  was first a very rural community dating back to the American Revolutionary War.  What is known today as the historic Smithville Inn, first made its debut in 1787. It was a simple inn along a well-traveled stagecoach route. The town grew more than six-times by 1874. The Smithville Inn became a  historic landmark back in 1964.

Today, there are more than 40 shops at the Village Greene in Smithville. I love to walk around Smithville and the Village Greene during the holidays. The atmosphere will surely put you into the holiday spirit.
