The holiday season is over, but the demand for food for those in need in South Jersey continues to increase. Donations typically slow down after the holiday season. This year the need for food is even greater due the economy, Hurricane Sandy's aftermath, unemployment benefits being cut for some. There has also been cuts to the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Some people are being forced to decide to pay bills, their mortgage, rent or buying food.

The shelves at the  Community FoodBank’s Southern Branch in EHT could be full one day and barren the next. The branch is responsible for delivering food to more than 280 agencies and pantries in Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties.

If you can help, the Community Food Bank's Southern Branch is located at 6735 Black Horse Pike in EHT.
