What's the secret to a long and healthy life?

There are four of them: don't smoke, don't drink too much alcohol, avoid a poor diet, and watch out for a life of inactivity.

Elise Solé from YAHOO!/Shine wrote an interesting article about this study published in the journal Preventative Medicine.

Researchers studied a large portion of people for decades and tracked their lifestyles and how long they lived, then came up with some interesting results. The first being that smokers tend to live the shortest. They have a 57% higher risk of dying prematurely.

An unhealthy lifestyle is more and more dangerous the older you are - meaning don't catch a bad habit in your middle to old age. If you're going to smoke and drink a lot get it out of the way in your youth and then quickly forget about it.
