Marlene's Movie Madness

Can you believe it's the 40th anniversary of the movie "Jaws"??  And to celebrate, it's showing in select theaters today, including Regal Cinemas Hamilton Commons 14 in Mays Landing.  And I don't know about you, but I for one am pretty darn excited (and a little scared)!

"Spy" is an action/comedy movie.  And while I'm usually not really keen on action movies, I do enjoy a good comedy.  And although "Spy" is silly, there are some pretty funny one-liners.  And Melissa McCarthy is always entertaining.

"I'll See You in My Dreams" is a comedy-drama about Carol (Blythe Danner), a widow and former singer who eventually realizes that her life has become very routine and rather boring.  That is...until she meets two totally different men.  One is a much younger pool maintenance guy (Martin Starr).  The other is a retiree (Sam Elliott) with an interest in boats...and Carol.

Most people go the movies and watch a movie from beginning to end.  But I'm not most people.  LOL.  Before the movie came out, I saw an advance screening of the movie "Entourage".  Problem is...I only got to see the final few minutes of the movie.  Even so, that didn't stop me from seeing it again...from the beginning!

From the moment I first saw the trailer for 'Love & Mercy', I knew I had to see this movie about the Beach Boys. And not because I like the Beach Boys, but because I was intrigued about the real story about Brian Wilson. And this movie tells it with plenty of passion and emotion.

'Far From the Madding Crowd' is set in Victorian England.  The main character is Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), a headstrong woman who thinks she may be too independent to ever get married.  She is definitely not a typical woman of that era.  As a result of that (or maybe in spite of it), men seem to be drawn to her.  In fact, three different men are interested in her at the same time.  So,

Aloha!  Well, I just saw the brand new movie 'Aloha' starring Bradley Cooper.  I tried to put aside all the negative reviews I had read about it.  After all, it looked like a cute flick, and did I mention that Bradley Cooper's in it??  LOL.

When it comes to movies, critics don't usually agree.  But in the case of 'Paul Blart : Mall Cop 2', the critics all seem to agree on the fact that it wasn't worth seeing.  But I saw it anyway.  Bet you're wondering why...

'The Age of Adaline' is a romance/fantasy starring Blake Lively as Adaline.
