Over recent years, doctors have officially recognized several creative ways that people find to hurt themselves, and here are a few of the wildest and weirdest incidents.

-9- NOSE-BLOWER'S FRACTURE- Doctors reported how a 20-year-old woman blew her nose so hard that the pressure had blasted air through a crack in her skull, and found its way into her chest cavity.

Doctors also reported that a 69-year-old man blew his nose so hard that it caused a small rupture in the wall of his heart muscle, leading to a sudden rise in blood pressure, that left him with stroke-like slurred speech and a paralyzed right arm for several hours.

-8- SHEET-FITTING PALSY- Doctors have found that repeatedly trying to pull a fitted sheet over the corner of a mattress can cause blood clots because the flexing of the wrist causes a tiny clot that can lead to numbness or weakness in the hands.

The blood clot issue has also been reported in basketball players and gym rats who do lots of push-ups.

-7- PLAYSTATION PALMS- Playing games for too long can cause a skin disorder of small red, sore lumps that is thought to be linked to intense sweating.

Doctors have named the condition ‘PlayStation palmar hidradenitis’ and it’s caused by tight, continuous grasping of the console, repeated pushing of the buttons and sweating caused by game-related tension.

-6- LOVE-BITE STROKE- A 44-year-old woman was left paralyzed by a love bite (hickey!) that damaged a neck artery. In another case, a young man needed 6 months to recover from a love bite from his girlfriend that crushed a nerve.

Even passionate kissing carries risks. A young Chinese woman lost her hearing in one ear for two months after a goodbye kiss from her boyfriend because it reduced the pressure in her mouth, pulled the eardrum out and caused the breakdown of her ear.

-5- HULA-HOOP SCIATICA- A 63-year-old hula hooping woman suffered a slipped disc in her spine, which had to be removed by emergency surgery. Similar “hula hoop” cases led to back spasms and ruptured abdominal muscles.

-4- ROLLER-COASTER HEART- The sudden adrenaline rush from a ride can cause an irregular heartbeat, and some roller-coaster rides have been blamed for cases of brain bruising, busted arteries, brain hemorrhages and a stroke.

-3- BEAUTY-PARLOR PALSY- A 38-year-old woman in Arizona was left with permanent pain in her left arm after receiving a strong neck massage that damaged her spinal nerves.

Doctors also claim that some women left hair salons with a range of symptoms, ranging from dizziness to partial paralysis, due to their heads being stretched over sinks, hurting their arteries that carry blood to the brain.

-2- HEAVY-METAL HEADACHE- Headbanging to heavy metal music can cause blood clots in the brain, triggered by the extreme shaking of the head.

Another related condition called Sid Vicious syndrome after the Sex Pistols rocker causes victims to suffer from hemorrhaging in the eyes from the punk rock pogo-dancing.

-1- POST-COITAL AMNESIA- This condition involves a complete loss of memory after vigorous lovemaking. A Japanese woman who suffered from the condition regained her memory after six hours.

One theory is that intercourse triggers a rise in blood pressure, but it quickly drops afterwards and that can cause a temporary fall in the brain’s oxygen supply.
