Winds gusted past 50MPH up-and-down the coast according to the National Weather Service with the highest gusts in Cape May Harbor and Tuckerton with wind gusts of 65 MPH.

Not much snow has fallen with this storm although snow showers may whiten the ground today.

Winds raked the  beachfront in Point Pleasant Beach, blowing drifts of sand onto Ocean Avenue, and shredding the decorative entrance canopy at a hotel across the street from the beach. Winds also blew off part of the roof of a Stone Harbor condominium complex.

Tides creeped onto side streets as during high tide, closing a number of roads and there was concern about this morning's high tide. Long Beach Township recommended a voluntary evacuation of ocean front homes from 72nd Street in Brant Beach to 84th Street in Brighton Beach in addition to ocean front homes in Holgate.

Road Closures Remain

Several roads and off ramps are closed in Atlantic County including exit 2 off the Atlantic City Expressway eastbound and Route 40 in both directions at West End Road.

Flooding has Route 35 closed in Aberdeen as is Route 36 in Sea Bright from Rumson Road to the Highlands Bridge in Sea Bright. Detective Stacy Ferris said a breach though several temporary dunes spanned three oceanfront properties, sending 3 to 6 inches of water flowing through onto the highway. As a result, officials closed a section of Route 35, from Herbert Street to the Bay Head border; the southern part of the borough remained open.
The state Department of Transportation, along with Mantoloking's own public works crews and contractors, were scooping and pushing sand back into the breach.

Route 35 is also closed in Mantoloking from Herbert Street to Bridge Avenue.
