ATLANTIC CITY — What started as a report of a man fleeing the scene of an accident at Caesar's Hotel and Casino on Friday evolved into much more when it was learned that the motorcycle the fleeing man was riding had been stolen.

The motorcycle was found on the 1700 block of Pacific Avenue. Witnesses told police that a man, identified as Michael Benko, 23, of Sewell, had parked the motorcycle on the street and walked away. They reported noticing bruises on his face at the time and had offered to call for medical help, which he refused.

At that time Benko was seen returning to the motorcycle and was approached by the officer before running away. After a short foot pursuit Benko was arrested and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division, where he was treated for injuries sustained in the original accident.

Benko was charged with receiving stolen property, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and several motor vehicle summonses. He was released on a summons for a future court date.
