It is rare that college students get the hands on training that they desperately need to develop before entering the workforce. With so much emphasis on book work and not enough technical training, students hardly get the hands-on experience needed to impress employers upon graduation. This is not the case for students at Stockton University.

Dr. Ai Zhang, professor of Public Relations at Stockton University, consistently emphasizes the importance of hands-on training to her students. Those taking her Advanced Public Relations course are giving back to the community using skills they have learned in the classroom to bring awareness to The Arc of Atlantic County and a number of non-profit organizations.

On April 23, the Noyes Arts Garage will be hosting “Art of the Arc”, a fundraising event in which one-of-a-kind art pieces will be showcased and auctioned to garner donations to further develop programs at The Arc of Atlantic County. There will be henna tattoos, raffles, food and Rita’s water ice. Admission is free and there will be free parking at the Wave Parking Garage for those who spend $25 or more on artwork.

The Arc of Atlantic County is a non-profit organization which improves the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community. Through direct services, advocacy, education and prevention activities, The Arc of Atlantic County works in partnership with individuals and their families to make choices about how and where they live, learn, play and work.
