Marlene’s Healthy Habits: So, Coconut Water, Huh?
Last summer I started buying coconut water when my son asked for it. I finally decided to try it myself, and my first impression was not very favorable.
It's difficult to describe the flavor, which is a bit strange. Maybe it's an acquired taste. I'm not giving up on it just yet, especially when I read about the benefits of drinking it.
Coconut water is a refreshing drink jam-packed with simple sugars, naturally occurring electrolytes, and minerals to replenish dehydration. Research studies suggest that ingredients found in coconut water have significant anti-aging, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-clot formation effects. Coconut water is composed of many naturally occurring enzymes that aid in digestion and metabolism. Coconut water is a good source of vitamins and minerals. It even has more potassium than a banana!
So the next time I'm really thirsty, I'm gonna reach for coconut water and reap the benefits.
Put the lime in your coconut water and call me in the morning. :)
