Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Salem” the cat.

Here is some information on Salem from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“A beautiful female Silver-tiger; little more than a year old, Salem has already seen the tough side of the tracks.
--Salem was found and brought to the HSOC around last Halloween by a couple who had found her abandon on the side of the road.
--She was seriously ill and had eye infections that caused her eyes to seal shut.
It would be several months until her eyes had completely healed, but she is a-okay now!
--Salem is a playful kitty, but she is not suitable for young children,
as she can be moody with humans and sometimes needs her space and privacy;
she needs a patient & understanding human home.
--She is best suited as a companion for other animals, especially other cats looking for a new kitty friend!
