A Christmas full moon will make an added special gift this holiday season.

The last time the moon was full for the holidays was Christmas 1977!

According to a report from NASA, the last full moon of the year is called a Full Cold Moon because it occurs right at the start of the winter season. The full moon's peak will happen at 6:11 AM Christmas morning.

You may want to at least take a glimpse of the moon before you open your presents, because the next full moon for the holidays won't be until will be Christmas 2034!

Another holiday treat will happen on the morning of  New Year's Eve. According to Fred Schaaf for the Press of Atlantic City, the bright light of Jupiter will shine with the moon as it rises on December 30th around 10:20 PM.

In the early morning of December 31st, you will be able to look for the moon and Jupiter to rise even closer together.
