The eighth case of rabies has been confirmed in Atlantic County.Shore News Today reports that a rabid bat has been found on the 500 block of Revere Way in Galloway. The bat was sent to the state lab after being found in a pile of leaves by a homeowner. The rabies confirmation was the first this year for Galloway.

So far, five bats, a raccoon, a skunk and a fox have tested positive for the disease in Atlantic County.

Pet Owners should make certain that their pets are up to date on their rabies shots. The Atlantic County Animal Shelter offers free rabies vaccination clinics for both dogs and cats monthly at the shelter which is located at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville.
