Police Warn of Local ATM Ripoffs

Margate Police have posted a Facebook notice warning of reports of money being stolen from local ATM's by someone using skimming devices.

According to the post, police have a suspect in the crimes, but advise using extra care when using an ATM and keeping close tabs on bank balances.

**ALERT**

"We have had multiple reports of fraudulent activity in Margate during the past two weeks. Residents have reported that money has been unlawfully withdrawn from checking accounts from local banks via ATM transactions. We encourage everyone to check their bank statements and report any suspicious activity to the bank and to the police department.

Debit cards have not physically been stolen, an unknown person had placed skimming devices onto to the ATMs in Margate. We have a suspect in mind but we wanted to make sure residents check their accounts."
