Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Tigger” the cat. She would work best as an only pet!

Here’s a little background info on Tigger from the Humane Society of Ocean City...Tigger Is a 6-7 year old female, She loves people and attention, but is best suited to be an only pet. She would possibly be okay with older children or a laid back dog but doesn't get along well with other cats. She wants to be queen and has been for her whole life!

Tigger was found at a construction site when she was a tiny kitten by her previous owners husband, He brought little Tigger home to his wife who bottle fed her and made Tigger their pet.

Fast forward several years and unfortunately Tigger's mom has passed away and her mom's husband had to move but was unable to take Tigger with him. He Had hoped to eventually readopt her once he was settled and honor his wife's last wishes to always keep Tigger safe and not let anything happen to her. Tigger was even surrendered with a locket containing a photo of her deceased owner.

After several weeks of calling and insisting he was working towards being able to readopt Tigger (and talking to Tigger on the phone... she would really answer!), we were finally informed he would be unable to readopt Tigger. Now we are trying to honor Tigger's first mom's wishes and find her a home where she will be loved and taken care of for the rest of her life!"
