Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Elizabeth" the cat. Elizabeth is a10-year-old short-haired female mixed breed.

Elizabeth would do best as an only pet in a quiet home, No kids, no other cats. Possibly a laid back cat friendly dog is okay. She is also on a special diet.

Here’s a little background info on Elizabeth from the Humane Society of Ocean City…

"Elizabeth was abandoned and left to live going in and out of the window of the house where she was abandoned.  She was starved and almost bald from flea allergies. During this time, there was a woman involved with the hsoc who had started to take notice of this poor stray and wanted to help. Before she was able to help her, Elizabeth had been picked up and brought to another shelter. Noticing that Elizabeth was no longer roaming stray she checked local shelters and was able to find and adopt her. Unfortunately Elizabeth and the woman's cat were unable to get along and Elizabeth came to the HSOC. After some time here  she was adopted to a wonderful home where she was loved.  But Elizabeth outlived her new owner and is now back at the HSOC up for adoption.

The staff here feel that I am about ten years old. I do love people, it's the cat part I am not too crazy about. So, if you think that you could be the "purr-fect" answer to my roller coaster of a life, come by soon to get to know me a little better. Who knows? This golden girl may just put some sparkle into your life too!"

If you would like to visit Elizabeth or need more information about any animal up for adoption at The Humane Society of Ocean City, call 609-399-2018 or stop in any day between 11a-3p.To adopt from the HSOC you will need one form of identification, which includes your name, permanent address and proof of ownership (i.e., local tax stub).
