Periods of light to moderate rain will keep New Jersey roads wet and slick on Wednesday, but a stretch of very pleasant weather is ahead.

Here are your weather headlines for Wednesday, December 2, 2015...

One More Rainy Day

Tuesday was certainly a soggy, grey day across New Jersey, with rainfall totals approaching an inch in spots. It looks like Wednesday will bring more of the same, with another 1 to 1.5 inches of rain possible. While the chances for bigtime heavy rain and/or severe weather remains low today, slippery roadways and low visibility will be a problem throughout the day.

This morning's forecast models paint a lull in the rainfall action for the first half of Wednesday - with just some widespread light rain, drizzle, mist, and/or fog for the morning hours. As a warm front lifts north into New Jersey this afternoon, the rain is expected to become steadier through this evening. The rain should (finally) taper off completely tonight, between about midnight and sunrise.

In addition, thanks to that warm front, temperatures will be quite mild on Wednesday. Highs are expect to climb into the upper 50s in North Jersey and lower 60s in South Jersey. Today's record high at Atlantic City International Airport is 63 degrees, which matches our forecast... So that gives you an idea of just how warm it'll get by early December standards!

Sunny Thursday... With a Catch...

After the rain ends, skies should clear quickly Thursday morning, and we'll break into sunshine eventually. However, as our new cooler air mass arrives, a gusty westerly wind will ensue. Sustained winds will range between about 15 to 25 mph, with possible gusts as high as 40 mph. If you have those giant inflatable Christmas decorations on your lawn, you'll probably want to secure them tightly before the wind starts to blow.

Highs on Thursday will come back down to the lower 50s - still above normal for the first week of December. With the stiff breeze, it will likely feel quite blustery all day.

Pleasant Early December Weekend

By Friday, a strong dome of high pressure will be moving over New Jersey, delivering pleasant and quiet weather through the weekend. Sunshine will dominate the sky, and winds will be significantly lighter (15 mph tops). Highs on Friday and Saturday will settle to a seasonable 50 degrees or so. Sunday's highs will bump into the mid 50s, and a few clouds could creep across the Garden State by late in the day.

Overall, once we get rid of the rain and the wind, we will get to enjoy a very nice stretch of weather... You really can't ask for much more for the first weekend of December!

Temperatures look to stay on the mild side next week. Our next forecast rain chance is late Tuesday.
