It's called the Charlie's Knox Memorial Scholarship - made with the intent to provide necessary funds to those who are in need, with the hopes of pursuing a higher education.

This scholarship was created in memory of local high school student Charles Knox Jr., who tragically passed away in 1998 at the age of 16. Prior to that, Charlie also lost his father at the age of 9, in the line of duty as a Philly Police officer. In which case, Charlie and his family have been through a lot and have dealt with each tribulation with strength and purpose.

Charlie's growth as a person was bright; he was always a compassionate individual who worked hard and always found time to help others.  As a true team player and a genuine friend to all those who knew him, Charlie exemplified goodwill. In which case, this annual scholarship was made to commemorate his honor to someone with similar qualities and needs.

This is the scholarships 19th year of fundraising, which has lead to the family to decide that this will be the final year. Which is why they're looking to raise as much possibly this year with their Go Fund Me Page!  The hope is that this will allow people to donate who cannot attend the annual benefit.
