Was it just a prank or is the thief someone who really doesn't like being reminded how fast he's going? Northfield Police have no idea but they could use your help finding the crook who stole their radar sign.

Sometime over the 4th of July weekend, someone stole a radar speed-detection sign from the 2500 block of Cedar Bridge Road.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, the sign is valued at $5,500 and the city of  Northfield is trying to get their insurance company to pay for a replacement.

Northfield Police say the speed-detection machine is a Speed Shield 15 manufactured by All Traffic Solutions and may have a red City of Northfield tag on the inside of the bracket housing.

The sign’s serial number is 15990911030321. It is 17 inches tall, 24 inches wide, 2 inches deep and weighs about 20 pounds.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call 609-641-2832, ext. 190.

Here's video from the manufacturer of what the sign looks like and how it works.
