NJ Might Be First State To Require Pet Groomers To Be Licensed

I am so excited to announce that New Jersey could become the first state that will require pet groomers to have a license before practicing.

The Pet Grooming Licensing Act unanimously passed at a meeting this past Monday started after dozens of dogs passed away during or shortly after an appointment at PetSmart.

"Everyone I tell, they're surprised groomers don't require licensing," said Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle who introduced the bill back in 2014. "There's room for regulation. No one is against safety. It's time to put pets over profits."

Eventually, the goal is to have the entire country function with the same regulations which is an absolute MUST.

I have multiple pets in my family and I cannot even tell you how distraught myself as well as my entire family would be if an incident like this occurred. A change must happen because living, breathing things are losing their lives.

While groomers did express their concern for the financial burden -- which I do understand --it will impose to become licensed, most were on board. But I think it should be viewed as an investment now for a better outcome in the long run.
