It is no secret that New Jersey is one of the states that is on the more expensive side to maintain a decent lifestyle.

But someone decided to take a look at each state individually to see just how much an hour someone working a 40 hour week needs to make to be able to afford a decent apartment in Jersey which is not an outlandish request.

One of the first questions in my mind is does this also include the expenses needed for clothing, food, and just everyday needs?

But let's move on. The hourly wage needed in New Jersey is....

$25.17

Honestly, that number is pretty high and even with the new minimum wage increase of $15.00, a lot of people are left to tirelessly work just to afford amenities that are needed for survival. I can't say I am a fan.

Take a look at the full map of hourly wages needed to survive in each state to see who topped New Jersey!
