In the days following the crash of a drone in the stadium at this year's U.S. Open Tennis Tournament, and a drone fly-over that caused a stoppage of play at a recent Ocean High school football scrimmage, New Jersey high school sports will be a no-drone fly-zone this school year.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that "the executive committee of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association voted Wednesday to ban drones from all of its events. The ban includes drones operated by fans. The NJSIAA governs New Jersey high school sports".

In addition to the safety factor of drones flying overhead, high school sports officials are concerned about any team with access to a drone having an unfair advantage in scouting over another team without one.

So, drone owners, keep 'em at home if you're going to a high school game this year. By the way, did you realize that everyone refers to you as you 'that drone dude'?

The NJSIAA will revisit the drone issue at the end of this school year.
