Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.
If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.
All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.
This week we met Nero the cat....

Here is some information on Nero from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Nero is a 4 year old sweet black and white domestic short haired cat. He is good with other cats and children of all ages. He’s never been with dogs but seems as though he would adjust easily.

Nero’s owner came to the shelter to surrender him because his children had locked Nero into a room without a litter box for an undetermined period of time and he had an accident while in there. Apparently this was not a uncommon event in their house and had happened a few more times.

At that point, the father decided that children should not have a cat because they couldn’t care for him properly and brought Nero to us. Nero had been bottle raised by that family and probably did think he was one of the kids. However, children should never be expected to care solely for an animal. He has no litter box issues as long as he is provided with one and will make a great companion.

Nero is playful, affectionate and very people friendly. He could adjust to most households easily. Come visit Nero if you’re looking for a wonderful new addition to your family. You won’t be disappointed!
