Morey's Piers in Wildwood announced Thursday it has shut down one of its rides after a similar ride from the same manufacturer broke apart at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring several others.

The Morey's Surfside Pier ride known as "IT" will be shut down for a couple of weeks due to the incident, according to a post Thursday on a Morey's Piers Facebook page.

According to Morey's website, "IT" opened in 2011 and swings up to 24 passengers like a pendulum. Riders reach heights of up to 65 feet over the pier that "will swing and spin you through the air."

"Fireball", the ride that crached at the Ohio State Fair, is the same type of ride that swings its riders up to 40 feet in the air. Fireball broke apart while it was in motion on Wednesday.

A video posted online appears to show several people on the Fire Ball seconds before parts of the structure, including a full row of seats, split up and fell, even though the ride had been inspected several times in the two days prior to the accident.
