Mold Forces Local School to Delay First Day

Flickr User Elizabeth/Table4Five

Students at the Jordan Road School in Somers Point won’t be heading back to school just yet.According to the Superintendent of Schools, Mold has been found in several classrooms. The problem pushes the first day of classes back to at least the 10th of September.

Officials do say the problem is being taken care of and that the school district will not open the school until the air quality in the building is determined to be healthy.

Mold is typically found in schools because they sit empty during hot, humid stretches of the summer. While not uncommon, it is still a serious health concern. It is pretty easy to rid buildings of mold if it’s detected early enough.
