There are many benefits for students who participate in high school sports, including responsibility, time management, and team work, among other things.

Since the 2016/17 school year has just come to an end, NJ.com released their list of the Top 100 athletes in the Garden State. Congratulations, to everyone who made the list! I know there's a ton of hard work and dedication that goes into being a high school athlete.

Meet the athletes who call Atlantic and/or Cape May County home:

#82. Alyssa Aldridge - Mainland Regional High School - The list reports that Alyssa won her second straight cross county title!

#59. Cade Antonucci - Holy Spirit High School - There's nothing like ending your years in high school on a high note. Cade was champion again in the javelin at the Meet of Champions! NJ.com mentions that Cade is on his way to Auburn University in the fall. Good luck, Cade!

#43. Bo Melton - Cedar Creek High School - According to NJ.com, Bo excelled in both football and track. Bo was also a First Team All-State selection for the second consecutive  school year. Bo will be attending Rutgers in the Fall.

#41. Amanda Nunan - Ocean City High School - Amanda was named Swimmer of the Year for the second season in a row. She was also a champion again in the 200 and 500 free!

 #40. Destin Lasco - Mainland Regional High School - This talented freshman excelled at swimming and broke the 200 IM Mainland record and according to the list, was a champ with the 100 back at the Meet of Champions!

Congratulations again to all the students on an awesome finish to the 2016/17 school year!
