Marlene’s Movie Madness : Love & Mercy [VIDEO]

hero30/thinkstock[/caption]From the moment I first saw the trailer for 'Love & Mercy', I knew I had to see this movie about the Beach Boys. And not because I like the Beach Boys, but because I was intrigued about the real story about Brian Wilson. And this movie tells it with plenty of passion and emotion.

The movie follows the story of the Beach Boys (actually the story of Brian Wilson). The young Brian Wilson is played by Paul Dano, while the older Brian Wilson is played by John Cusack. And while the movie jumped back and forth quite a bit at times, the storyline kept moving forward and both actors (especially John Cusack) did a fine job of depicting him at both stages of his life.

In the late 60's Brian stopped touring for personal reasons, and by the 80's he is under the care of a controlling therapist. Then he meets Melinda Ledbetter, a woman who sees what is really going on in Brian's life.

'Love & Mercy' is not simply a movie about surfing, girls, and Beach Boys music (though the music in the movie is awesome!). It is the story of Brian Wilson, undoubtedly the genius behind the Beach Boys. And while the story is sometimes dark, the movie will leave you with lots of 'Good Vibrations'. :)
