You don't have to be Italian to love pasta.  In fact, who doesn't love a big bowl of pasta with red sauce (or gravy, or whatever you call it)??  Well, if you wanna eat your pasta and make it better for you, try whole wheat pasta instead.  Choosing whole wheat pasta over white pasta ensures the most nutritional benefits, including vitamin E, major B vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, protein, and healthy fats. Several studies have shown that eating at least three servings of whole grains (a ½ cup of cooked whole wheat pasta counts as one serving) per day can reduce the risk of chronic health conditions like cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, cancer, and digestive issues.  In that case, why wouldn't you eat whole wheat pasta??

It's true that some nutrients, including iron and B vitamins, are often added back into white pasta to create 'enriched' pasta.  Even so, these still can’t compete with the natural benefits of unrefined whole grains.  The flavor of whole wheat pasta might take some getting used to, but with your favorite sauce you may not even notice a big difference.  Besides, you'll be doing your body a favor...and trying a new flavor.  :)
