Brad Barket / Getty Images[/caption]The movie 'Big Eyes' is based on the true story of Walter Keane (played by Christoph Waltz).  His paintings of big-eyed children made him a popular artist back in the '50s.  But the real truth was that his wife Margaret (Amy Adams) actually painted every single one of them.  Who knew??  Well, at the time, apparently no one!

I must admit that it really bothered me, but times were much different back then for women.  Still, I couldn't believe that Walter Keane got away with fooling so many people for so many years, or that his wife kept quiet about his lies.  And actually he really was a good artist...a con artist.  And there's nothing worse than someone who lies so much that he/she has to cover up the lies with even more lies.  It's a vicious circle and it's aggravating.  I think that was my only problem with the movie.  Walter Keane really annoyed the heck out of me!

The movie might not be for everyone.  But if you like drama/biography flicks with a twist, then give it a shot.  And though Walter Keane was a Big loser, Big Eyes ended up being a pretty Big winner at the box office.  :)
